The Blue Crab, Callinectes sapidus<\/em>, is an alien species to the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>

It is native to the Atlantic coasts of America and has most likely spread to our seas through the ballast waters of ships coming from the areas of origin.<\/p>

The blue crab reaches considerable size and is a large predator of gastropods, bivalves and small crustaceans.<\/p>

In addition to representing a danger to small-scale coastal fishing, this species can pose a serious threat to biodiversity.<\/p>

The Life Diomedee project, thanks to our experts from the University of Bari, has already implemented interventions to remove this species from some areas of the #Litorale Brindisino<\/strong>, in the #Parco delle Dune Costiere<\/strong> territory.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
